Mr. Hartmans services as an Expert-in-Residence at UC Irvine Applied Innovation, where he advises companies regarding intellectual property, funding, and commercial transactions. He provides pro bono legal services through Public Counsel, and he supports charities including the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles, Bet Tzedek Legal Services, and Jewish Family Services of Los Angeles.
Mr. Hartmans, his wife Sharon, a physician, and their three children live in Manhattan Beach, in southwestern Los Angeles County.
